Described by those who knew him as the happiest little boy with a passion for red cars, Carlos Alberto defied all odds. He was a brave and greatly admired nine-year-old, who never took no for an answer. His stubbornness and conviction led family, friends and even his doctors to believe he had some sort of super powers. Despite suffering from Pearson Syndrome, a rare type of mitochondrial disorder, Carlos Alberto filled every room with laughter, joy and hope.
As golf has always been a big part of our lives, our family has decided to honor his memory by hosting a Memorial golf outing for the last three years. All of the funds raised will go to promote research and education for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial diseases. Every little bit can go a long way to better understand this mysterious disease and help other children defy odds for as long as possible.
We thank you for being part of this effort and for helping us keep the memory of Carlos Alberto alive.
