Research Grant Program

The Research Grant Program began in 1997 out of a desire to fund research toward diagnoses, treatments, and cures for mitochondrial disease. Since the program began, the UMDF has funded over $6 million of research.

In 2008, the UMDF awarded more than $1 million in research grants. Awarded funds are disbursed over the one, two, or three year life of the grant. Proposals are considered during a one-year grant cycle.

2009 Grant Cycle

The 2009 Grant Cycle is now CLOSED; no additonal LOIs will be accepted.

Please note the following dates:

July 1, 2008	Grant cycle opens
September 17, 2008	Letters of Intent deadline
Early January 2009	LOI decision letters mailed; DO NOT contact UMDF for results
Mid-February 2009	Solicited proposals due
July 2009	Projects funded
