Why Support UMDF Symposia?

sea-71Since 1996, The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation has gathered together the best minds in mitochondrial medicine and research at our annual symposium. It is at these internationally recognized meetings that the latest information in the field of mitochondrial medicine, potential treatments and therapies, and cutting edge research is presented.

The UMDF Symposium is also recognized as ‘the meeting’ for affected individuals and their families. They are able to have questions answered, learn advances in the treatment of their illness, and are offered hope for a cure.

Exhibitors at Mitochondrial Medicine 2017: Washington DC are provided with the ability to market to leading medical experts in the field of mitochondrial medicine. They are also afforded the opportunity to tap into a unique market of patients and their families who rely on products and services designed to enhance their lives.

Since 2007, more than 2,750 scientists and medical experts from various fields (research, clinical, neurology, gerontology, etc.) have attended the UMDF’s Mitochondrial Medicine Symposium. While most of the professional attendees are from the United States, the UMDF meetings have attracted professionals from all over the world including China, India, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Nearly 2,150 registrants have participated in our family sessions over the past six years. They come from all over the globe to hear the latest information presented and learn about living with mitochondrial disease.

On average, each symposium registers nearly 600 scientific, medical and family participants, with more than 100,000 impressions through print and e-marketing.

Very simply, this is “the meeting” at which you will want your message heard and delivered.

Every time I attend it gets better and better . . . speakers, networking, etc. and especially the last 2-3 years, clinical trial/studies part of program. Great to see more in attendance!

Talking with doctors and researchers! So helpful. Teen sessions… My kids loved feeling a part of a group of teens that were “like them.”

For our family, this symposium was transformational. We have been given hope. For our daughter, she now has friends who get her!
