Mitochondrial Medicine Symposium includes a two-day family program to give affected patients and their families the opportunity to meet some of the top clinical mitochondrial specialists from around the world. There is a mix of education-based sessions and social events to meet and connect with others who share your journey.
To ensure patient families have access to the annual event, UMDF offers a limited number of full and partial Symposium Scholarships. These scholarships are limited to affected individuals, LHON affected individuals, and their immediate family members.
Prior to applying for a UMDF Symposium Scholarship, please exhaust all other potential resources for financial support. For example, UMDF is a member of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) who recently created a program that supports conference travel.
Scholarships are only available for qualified attendees. If you have received a scholarship within the past three years, you may not be eligible for TRAVEL/HOTEL assistance, but you could qualify for REGISTRATION FEE assistance.
